Which size do you need? Most remotes, toys and flashlights take AA or AAA, smoke alarms and guitar pedals commonly use 9V, and slim styluses or laser pointers often need the less common AAAA. Button cells like LR44 and LR41 power watches, calculators and key fobs, sizes are not interchangeable even when the voltage matches, so check the code printed on the old cell before buying. Alkaline is the right choice for devices used occasionally or stored for long periods, since it holds a charge on the shelf far longer than rechargeable NiMH. For anything replaced often, a rechargeable pack usually pays for itself instead.
